What are the benefits of purchasing a new router? I have a router that's about a year and a half old and I'm wondering if purchasing a new one will do anything.

It depends on the router your buying and what exactly your looking for in a router. Like do you want your router to provide a internet WiFi signal that you can use for any wireless devices you may have? Are you looking for a simple router that will provide internet for any computers connected to it? Or both? If your currently using a wired router and are seeing if a new wired router will make a difference, then I wouldn't bother with it seeing that pretty much any wired router will provide the same speeds regardless of internet speed. Wireless routers are a different story. Some of em provide the same functions as a wired router and others are strictly wireless. Most wireless routers have different signal strengths depending on the brand and how much money it is.

I would like to have a router that does have wifi as well as having it wired to a PC. That's what my current one does.

Hmm, then unless your current router is having problems like the wifi connection is constantly dropping for example, i wouldn't bother with a new router unless you want something with a bigger wifi range and/or a stronger signal.

I have another pc on wireless 3 phones in the house and a Kindle fire all online at once....House of Electronics) and this router handles it nicely.....do keep in mind I have Charter 100mb internet service...It handles the speeds just fine

I have an Asus RT-N16. It's a great wireless N router. I installed dd-wrt on it, and the thing is a BEAST. I can do all kinds of downloading, gaming, etc. with no issues.
I also have 100mbit internet, so take that as you will
